London Semester Course Description
Social Psychology in a Global Context *NEW FALL 2009*
This upper-level course introduces students to concepts in Social Psychology in the context of the 21st century global communities, and their management of international issues and concerns. By the end of the course students will become familiar with human approaches to a variety of international issues, application of theory to field inputs, and the essence of promoting “other awareness” in topical reading materials and discussions. The capstone of the course will be a comprehensive journal that each student produces, encapsulating field observations and application of theories to the study abroad experience. The study is expected to help students develop multicultural insights as part of psychological training in the social sciences, and therefore, particularly attractive to those majoring in Psychology or Sociology.
Pre-requisites: Students should have at least two semesters or quarters of introductory psychology courses. Transcripts will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine eligibility.
