There is much more to Notting Hill than Carnival but even that history is often misrepresented. After the final breakout session on Saturday afternoon, join the Notting Hill Tour by Black History Walks to learn about the pioneering African and Caribbean people who literally fought for equality and laid the foundation for modern multi-cultural London. Black History Walks, named by The Guardian as one of London’s Top Ten Guided Walks and featured on BBC Two, is a collective of athletes, IT professionals, teachers, artists, authors, and film-makers who collaborate to produce events on British history throughout the year.  In keeping with the conference’s theme of harnessing the power of diversity, this tour will explore issues of immigration, race, class, and gender to tell the story of a community’s struggles and triumphs on road to making their indelible mark on the vibrant Britain we know today. We anticipate high demand for this excursion and spaces will be limited.
