After completing his degree in politics, Hadi lived and traveled abroad extensively. He has worked and studied in Egypt, Spain, Iran, Tunisia, and Turkey. In 1993-4 he worked as a journalist for Al-Ahram Weekly in Cairo. From 1994-2000, he worked as an editor for I. B Tauris publishers in London. From 2002-3 as a researcher in the policy department of Praxis (an NGO which works with refugees in the UK). He has recently had his book based on his doctorate published, Law, State, and Society in Modern Iran: Constitutionalism, Autocracy, and Legal Reform, 1906-1941(Palgrave Macmillan, 2013) which is a historical sociology of the development of the modern legal system in Iran. The book was awarded the 2013 Mossadegh Prize. He currently teaches at several universities in London and specializes in the political sociology of the Middle East, socio-legal studies, comparative politics and race, ethnicity and multiculturalism.
