Service Learning Student Support
FIE is committed to providing quality and meaningful service learning experiences for all its students. FIE achieves this in a number of ways:
- Managing student expectations.
- Researching and maintaining an extensive database of potential placements and organizations.
- Maintaining positive and current relations with FIE’s placement organizations.
- Providing a comprehensive orientation to ensure that the student is thoroughly prepared prior to placement, including coverage of insurance and liability issues as well as health and safely protocols.
- Engaging in quality control of our placements in order to promote the development of the student as workplace team member and as learner.
- Providing ongoing support and advice throughout the service learning experience.
- Ensuring that potential placements are aware of their responsibility to the health and safety of student while working within their organization.
- Regularly visiting all placement sites.
