FIE's Student Global Leadership Conference will take place Friday, April 5 - Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Royal Geographical Society
Presented in a hybrid format: Live in London at the Royal Geographical Society (RGS), and online from anywhere in the world!
THEME: Leadership and Mental Health: Equal Opportunities to Thrive
The global need to address mental health and wellbeing has never before been so clear, or so urgent. Millions of people worldwide have mental health conditions and an estimated one in four people globally will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime (United Nations). During the first year of the pandemic, “estimates put the rise in both anxiety and depressive disorders at more than 25%” (World Mental Health Report, 2022, United Nations). The problem is not strictly, or even predominantly, an individual one – it is a social crisis.Wider social issues such as poverty, racism, and sexism are of course linked to this crisis, often causing or exacerbating mental health issues. Now, perhaps more than ever, effective leadership must be built on a foundation of self-care and wellbeing Rethinking our collective attitudes, actions, and approaches to mental health is essential to ensure everyone has an opportunity to thrive.
FIE’s eighth Student Global Leadership Conference aims to inspire the leaders of tomorrow to foster environments, communities and workplaces conducive to optimal mental wellbeing, taking place LIVE IN LONDON and ONLINE!
