  • Interdisciplinary approach: Draw on political science, sociology, anthropology, and history
  • Experiential learning: Visit NGOs, cultural institutions, and historical sites directly tied to migration
  • Immersive excursions: Explore UNESCO heritage sites, diverse neighborhoods, and vibrant cultural traditions
  • Optional extension: Add intensive Arabic language classes in Rabat to deepen your cultural and linguistic understanding

academic structure

Students will take:

  • Labor and Migration in the Middle East — a multidisciplinary course combining political economy, anthropology, and history to examine the movement of people for work and survival in the MENA region and beyond.
  • Immigration in Spain: Sociological, Political and International Dimensions — a course exploring immigration in Spain within the broader European and Mediterranean context, combining theoretical, historical, and practical perspectives, setting the foundation for further study of migration dynamics in Morocco.
  • Co-curricular activities and excursions in both countries, such as:
    • Day trips to Córdoba (Mezquita-Catedral) and Cádiz (city tour and beach visit)

optional intensive arabic extension

At the end of the core program, students may choose to extend their stay in Rabat for intensive Arabic language classes.

This optional component builds on the program’s deep engagement with migration, identity, and cultural exchange in the MENA region by providing immersive language instruction alongside local cultural activities. Whether you are a beginner or aiming to refine your skills, you’ll gain practical communication tools and cultural insight that enhance your understanding of the region’s history, politics, and daily life — making your summer abroad even more impactful.
