FIE offers unrivalled, life-changing study abroad programmes for US undergraduate students in the UK, Ireland and Spain. We create active educational experiences that expand minds, foster cultural intelligence and open up exciting future opportunities. We are a values-driven community, invested in making a difference. We advance sustainable thinking, enabling students to positively impact their community, society and the wider world.
FIE London is currently seeking to contract qualified, enthusiastic, and confident sessional instructors to teach the first-year undergraduate course in Fundamentals of Finance in autumn 2024.
The ideal instructor will have a relevant postgraduate degree, doctorate preferred, in a directly related field and have experience of teaching at the undergraduate level. Experience teaching American undergraduates at a range of levels is preferred as FIE classes are delivered to undergraduates from a variety of institutions, predominantly American universities. Faculty are responsible for all aspects of course preparation, teaching, and assessment.
FIE’s courses are designed so that students can actively participate in their host country’s culture. All courses are supported by co-curricular activities (field trips, site visits, guest speakers, interactive experiences) that foster community connection and understanding. By discovering and experiencing knowledge beyond the classroom students shape their own perspective of the world. Anyone who teaches for us must be willing and eager to use the location of London in creative ways, incorporating experiential components as part of their teaching delivery strategy.
The course introduces students to the fundamental concepts in business finance and enables students to understand and to carry out financial calculations. The course also develops students’ understanding of financial markets, such as stock and bond markets and examines the effects of the value of the firm created by the interaction of the investment and financial decisions including understanding risk and return trade-offs.
