Your educational experience in Spain is sure to be as exciting as the city you'll call home!

With the lively streets of Barcelona as your classroom, you can revel in all the familiar landmarks — the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia, the Barri Gotic, Casa Batllo, and La Pedrera while taking in the history and culture during your courses. Barcelona’s mild climate and the diverse landscapes of the Catalonia region provide students with a variety of opportunities to spend time on the beaches, in the Pyrenees Mountains, or visiting some of the most famous wineries and cava (champagne) caves of Spain.
With an approximate population of 1.6 million people, Barcelona is the perfect place to spend a summer or semester as a student. It is a city where our students will get to know many other international students since the city is one of the most popular study abroad destinations.

FIE’s study abroad programs in Spain seize the best of both worlds. With an emphasis on co-curricular activities to ensure you contextualize your academic learning, Spain offers extensive and authentic exposure to the local culture. Our academic partners (UAB Barcelona) and on-the-ground partner (ALA) serve not only as your homebase, but also as your launchpad to adventure (but not just any kind of adventure — the juicy kind that leads to boundless inspiration and profound lifelong lessons).

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) (Autonomous University of Barcelona)

descarregues 3 x21 1In Barcelona, you can pursue a wide variety of majors! The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is one of the leading universities in Spain, both for the quality of its teaching staff and for excellent research. In fact, UAB is ranked 2nd best university in Spain.  UAB is one of the largest universities in Spain, with 35,000 students across several campuses, making it a great choice for students who want a large, buzzing international host university.

The program at UAB takes place at the Sant Pau (Casa de Convalescència) campus, located in the thriving Barcelona city center.

The Casa de Convalescència is one of the buildings located within the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau grounds and constitutes one of the late works of Catalan Modernism. The complex was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1978 and later named part of UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage for Humanity in 1997.
All students will take FIE's signature "Spanish Life and Cultures Course" (SA3023E - Spanish Civilization and Culture) to connect with others on the program, similar to the Life and Cultures courses offered at FIE London and Dublin.
