Gianni is a political theorist and moral philosopher specialising in the ethical problems and moral conflicts that arise in modern democratic societies. He completed his PhD, Breaking Down Dirty Hands: Episodes, Careers, and Rules, at King’s College London in 2023, arguing that ‘dirty hands’ problems, where political actors are all-things-considered justified in committing certain wrongful acts, need to be understood in more contextually dependent ways. His postdoctoral work has focused on the ethical dilemmas that exist in modern politics and the moral profile of being a career politician: he also has research interests in justice and the history of liberal political thought. He has extensive teaching experience, and is committed to creating inclusive and accessible classroom environments. Outside of academia, Gianni enjoys worldbuilding, genre fiction, and gaming.
