Support at FIE
DISABILITY AND ACCESSIBILITY POLICY
FIE is committed to a comprehensive policy of Equal Opportunity and supports the social model of disability and recognizes that environments, services, and facilities may be either “enabling” or “disabling”. Therefore accommodations may be necessary in order to allow for full access to FIE programs. Applications from students with disabilities are welcomed and any necessary accommodations will be handled on an individual case-by-case basis. Please visit our Diversity & Inclusivity page, with links to our Accessibility and Student Resources information. Any queries concerning FIE’s accessibility should be directed to our
MENTAL HEALTH PROVISION
FIE’s team is typically the first point of contact for students with concerns. FIE works closely with psychotherapists and counselors. For more information please contact the local team who will be able to connect you with appropriate local support.
EMERGENCY INCIDENT RESPONSE PLANNING
FIE is committed to a prompt and efficient response to any incident that would impact the operation of a program. The Emergency Incident Response Plan is carefully reviewed on an ongoing basis by FIE's Health and Safety Committee. The H&S Committee consists of senior managers and department heads and it convenes at least once a year.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL INSURANCE WITH HEALTH COVERAGE
London, Dublin, Barcelona, Madrid and Seville Programs
FIE is an appointed representative of Howden, which is authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Students are covered by FIE’s group travel insurance policy with Howden, unless insurance coverage is provided by your home institution. Please note that students studying on a program in Spain that is longer than 90 days will not be enrolled in the Howden policy, and must purchase a separate insurance policy that meets Spanish student visa and immigration requirements. Full information on the Howden policy, including how to make a claim, can be found on our Insurance page. Howden coverage is in effect only for the dates of the program so you should not cancel any existing insurance coverage.
Amman and Rabat Programs
As part of the program fee, our partner organization will provide medical and accident insurance for all students through CISI. In addition to medical insurance, CISI provides high-quality medical, political, and natural disaster evacuation coverage. Once in the country, on site program staff will help students deal with medical issues should they arise. They have a list of recommended providers and hospitals both in the host city and in areas visited on excursions as well. A list of private clinics and doctors is maintained, and the staff is available to provide students with recommendations as needed.
