Where better to discover your inner leader than in one of the world's leading cities? FIE’s Spring Leadership London Semester is built for the next generation of global leaders. Designed to engage students with various facets of leadership in the global city of London and the greater globalized world we live in today, Leadership London provides the opportunity to examine models of leadership both within and outside the classroom. Throughout the semester, students view leadership through a variety of lenses, both theoretical and practical, and reflect upon what leadership means in their own personal and professional development.
Leadership London combines rigorous academic coursework, development of a leadership portfolio, experiential education through an internship or service internship at a British organization, and Student Global Leadership Conference participation. You will return home with a robust experience to fuel your future leadership endeavors. Leadership London:
- Equips you to serve as a leader – positional and situational – from the classroom to your community
- Provides you the opportunity to experience and reflect on navigating the moral challenges of power
- Prepares you with strategies from varied models of leadership to respond to personal and professional challenges into the future
Who Is It For?
The importance of effective, positive leadership as an agent of societal change and as a catalyst for the transformation of businesses is so pervasive that Leadership London will appeal to students from any academic background.
Business or Communication majors/minors will be especially attracted to the relevance of effective leadership to the commercial world and how ‘leadership’ is closely linked to ‘messaging’.
Cross-cultural exposure from studying and working in a country different to your own is particularly relevant to students studying social sciences.
Students who are leaders on their home campus and communities, as well as students seeking to become leaders, will gain unique insight into the considerations and ethics of global leadership.
All in all, if your college approves the Ethical Leadership course and you want to develop your leadership competencies, you will find Leadership London of real value to you.

For faculty and institutions: Course Customization
FIE is well-equipped to work with faculties and study abroad offices to customize this program to suit the needs of the institution.
FIE was founded on the premise that education provision is in partnership. Many of our programs are run collaboratively with our partners. Often, visiting faculty who have been instrumental in setting up their department's or college's study abroad offering come to teach at least on course during their students' experience with us in London (or Dublin, Madrid or Barcelona).
FIE provides, among other services, a full orientation, 24-hour emergency support, full insurance, transcripts from our school of record (Drexel University), an apartment facility for visiting faculty and their families, and visits to your college campus from one of our US-based Institutional Relations Team.
All of our students undertake co-curricular activities. That is, visits to local companies, landmarks and/or museums to enrich their experience. Most of our students in London spend half of their time placed in an internship. Many of our visiting faculty build up their own courses with our ideas and suggestions.
If you are interested in substituting one or more courses in the models we use in Leadership London, please get in touch with one of our Institutional Relations Team members (IRT). Please also do reach out to the IRT member in your region of the US for an informal conversation about the Student Global Leadership Conference (SGLC) and how you and your students might get involved.
